2.8L Stroker–Powered 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R

The Legend Reborn: A Heavily Modified 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R Hits the Auction Block

The Nissan Skyline GT-R, particularly the R32 generation, holds a legendary status among automotive enthusiasts. Known for its motorsport pedigree and advanced technology for its time, the "Godzilla" remains highly sought after. Now, a remarkably built 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) has surfaced, showcasing an extensive transformation that elevates its performance and presence.

Up for action on Bring A Trailer

This particular R32 GT-R was reportedly imported to the US in 2016. It subsequently underwent a significant build process totaling over $126,000, completed by Cicio Performance in Alpharetta, Georgia. The car sports a repaint in its factory color, Gun Gray Metallic (KH2), and features iconic R32 elements like an aluminum hood and front panels, projector headlights, a front lip spoiler, and a rear wing.

Under the hood lies the heart of this beast: a 2.8L Stroker RB26 inline-six engine. This powerplant was assembled using a Tomei short block and a replacement cylinder head. The build included meticulous work such as CNC porting the head, performing a valve job, balancing the rotating assembly, and modifying the oil pan. Performance-enhancing components abound, including Tomei Procam camshafts, valves, guides, solid lifters, and springs with titanium retainers. The engine is force-fed by a single Xona Rotor 8264S ball-bearing turbocharger mounted on a ceramic-coated Raw Brokerage twin-scroll manifold. A custom-fabricated intake, HKS front-mount intercooler, and TiAL Sport blow-off valve and wastegate are also part of the turbo setup. Exhaust gases exit through a custom-fabricated downpipe and a straight-through exhaust system, including a MINE’S muffler. Engine management is handled by an AEM Infinity 508 standalone system, tuned to run on either 93-octane or E85 fuel.

Power is delivered to all four wheels via the renowned ATTESA all-wheel-drive system and a five-speed manual transmission. Enhancements to the drivetrain include an OS Giken Super Lock limited-slip rear differential with replacement 31-spline output flanges. A Montu Motors torque controller, a twin-disc ceramic clutch assembly, braided clutch line, and an upgraded shift fork were also added, along with a carbon-fiber driveshaft.

Handling and stopping power have been significantly upgraded. The car rides on a lowered suspension featuring MCS adjustable coilovers. Braking is managed by StopTech big-brake kits at all corners, utilizing ST40 calipers with 332x32mm slotted rotors up front and ST22 calipers with 328x28mm slotted rotors out back. Numerous suspension and steering modifications from brands like Cusco, GKTech, SPL, and Kansei Service contribute to the car's dynamic capabilities, including a SPL HICAS delete kit.

Inside the right-hand-drive cabin, the factory rear seats have been removed, and the front features Kevlar-backed Recaro RZ bucket seats trimmed in black cloth. Driver information is displayed on a NISMO-branded cluster which includes a retrofitted 320-km/h speedometer. Additional monitoring is provided by Stack gauges for oil temperature, boost pressure, and air/fuel ratio, housed in a Street Faction Engineering pod. A Clarion M508 head unit handles audio.

Showing approximately 27k kilometers (~17k miles) on the NISMO cluster (though an export certificate indicates a higher mileage reading in 2015), this highly customized R32 GT-R is currently being offered at no reserve on Bring a Trailer. It's located in Illinois and comes with a clean Montana title in the owner’s LLC name. For anyone seeking a thoroughly built and unique example of the R32 GT-R legend, this auction presents a compelling opportunity.
